Christmas 2021

A Year of More Change

We, like the rest of you, had hoped that all things COVID-19 would be behind us. Instead, we come to the end of 2021 and hope that 2022 is better for the world than 2021 was. The one thing this virus has taught us though is that not much tops getting to hug a loved one for the first time in a long time.

We Martins have kept busy this year, even when we couldn’t be with family and friends. Some highlights from our year were:

  • Bert is the executive Director of IS Mergers, Acquisition, and Major Construction for Providence Hospital – he continues to love it and love’s his COVID commute from the coffee pot to the study in our house;
  • Kristina is now the director of stewardship for the Clark College Foundation and was thrilled to see students finally back on campus this year;
  • Isaac is in the honors program at Portland State University majoring in mathematics and loving living in the city;
  • Amelia is a senior in high school and is quite busy with IB diploma requirements and clubs like Mock Trial, as well as counting down the days until she heads off to college next fall;
  • Elias is a sophomore in high school and is loving being back to in-person school, complete with friends and activities like Mock Trial and philosophy club.

We hope that each of you has a wonderful holiday season and that the new year treats you with kindness and care. May 2022 include all that brings you joy. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you from the Martins.
